New Democracy will invite all the parties to form a government of "cooperation, understanding and national responsibility" if it wins Sunday's elections, ND leader Vangelis Meimarakis said on Wednesday.

The dilemma facing voters at the upcoming elections is "whether we go back, or forward with Potami," the party's leader Stavros Theodorakis said on Wednesday, during a pre-election press conference broadcast on all Greek television channels. He predicted that Potami will emerge stronger from Sunday's polls and stressed that it was a force that will stabilise the country.

Kos, a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, has become a major transit point for refugees fleeing through Turkey in an attempt to reach Europe, and Kurdish news agency Rudaw reported grom the island.
