Donoussa: At the top of "undiscovered Greek gems" for Italians

The Lesser Cyclades have a leading role in the new list of the most valuable "unknown gems" of Greece for Italian travelers, according to the popular website thewom.it.

The site urges its millions of readers to escape the trivial and explore the other side of insular Greece with its "Mediterranean oases that tell tales of pirates, gods and mermaids and the strips of land where myths and legends still resonate".

First on the list among thirteen "hidden gems" of the Aegean is Donoussa "a place that lives at a slow pace and where the myth of Ariadne and Theseus still survives. The caves in the sea, the paths, the narrow alleys and the villages that have remained intact over time offer unique experiences."

In third place on the list are Koufonisia, two wonderful islands facing each other in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean.

"In the post-covid era, our expanded narrative to explore the unknown aspects of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades, is constantly gaining more ground abroad. The new, authentic and unknown will be a trend for the coming years", pointed out the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of Naxos and Small Cyclades, Vangelis Katsaras.
