“Maestro in Blue” travels to New York to celebrate Christophoros Papakaliatis

Greeks & Greek Americans from all over the Tri State Area of New York, along with international guests gathered at the Chiotes Hall of the Archiocesan Cathedral in New York City, to celebrate Christophoros Papakaliatis – actor, creator, director, and writer of “Maestro in Blue,” the first ever Greek scripted television series to make an exclusive worldwide distribution deal with streaming platform Netflix.

Within the framework of Cultural Diplomacy in Europe and European Cultural Days, the President of Η&Μ, Heritage & Museums, Athens, Paris, NY, and Chair of the World Federation of Friends of Museums.

Development Committee (World Federation of Friends of Museums-WFFM), Mrs. Lila de Chaves-Chronopoulou, hosted the established annual award ceremony for people in the fields of art, culture and education who have made a major contribution in the advancement of culture in their fields of activity. 

Η&Μ, Heritage & Museums, Athens, Paris, NY is a non-profit organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Sports. Since 2010, it has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the EMF, European Museum Forum, of the Council of Europe, with which it maintains an excellent cooperation.

This year, Η&Μ had the pleasure of awarding the contributors of the highly successful TV series of Mega Channel, “MAESTRO”, that took the Greek audience by storm and has gained international status, being the first Greek TV series that has been bought from the international subscription streaming platform ΝΕTFLIX.

The awards were presented to the top contributors of “MAESTRO”, Mr. Christopher Papakaliatis, for his contribution in TV and cinema as a writer, screenwriter and actor, Mr. Konstantinos Sousoulas, Chief Content Officer, Mega Channel, Mrs. Charis Alexiou, singer, songwriter and actor, Mr. Giannis Tsortekis, actor and director, Mr. Kostas Christides, film composer, and Mrs. Maria Kavogianni, actress.

The award ceremony took place at B.&M. Theocharakis Foundation, Vas. Sofias 9 and Merlin 1, on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 12:30.

The awards were presented by the President of H&M, Heritage and Museums, Athens, Paris, NY, Mr. Makis Matsas, President of MINOS EMI, and Mr. Manolis Kottakis, Director of Estia Newspaper. The contributors of the “MAESTRO” series, Christopher Papakaliatis, Charis Alexiou, Maria Kavogianni, Fanis Mouratidis, Marisha Triantafyllidou, Antinoos Albanis, Giannis Tsortekis, Klelia Andriolatou, Orestis Chalkias, George Benos, Dimitris Kitsos and Stefania Goulioti, were presented with an honorable mention.

The event was attended by guests from the fields of culture and journalism.One of the main objectives of Heritage and Museums was also to promote the series to foreign counties. To this end, members of foreign diplomatic associations in Athens were invited to the event. The Ambassadors and Diplomats of the states of Albania, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Germany, Japan, Palestine, Panama, Poland, Romania and Cuba responded to the invitation.
