Palermo: The Byzantine mosaics of the cathedral have been restored

On a hill overlooking Palermo in Sicily, the Cathedral of Monreale stands as one of the lesser-known treasures of Italian art. Built in the 12th century under Norman rule, it houses the largest collection of Byzantine-style mosaics in Italy, second only in the world to those of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul.

Turkish worker stabs employer in Kalamata

A 35-year-old Turkish man in Kalamata confronted his employer at noon on Thursday, fatally stabbing him with a knife concealed in his clothing. The perpetrator has been charged with intentional homicide and offered no resistance during his arrest. He confessed to the crime.
