"Athens suffered greatly in recent years and, in a volatile global environment, showed its potential and a walk in downtown Athens, the historic commercial district, is enough for someone to realise that the visitors have returned," Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias said in an interview with RealFM on Tuesday, underlining that "the fact that we took the decision to start the tourism season earlier played a key role in this recovery."

In November 2021, the current account deficit increased compared to the corresponding month of 2020, due to the deterioration of the balance of goods and the balances of primary and secondary income, which was partially offset by the improvement of the balance sheet, published by the Bank of Greece.

This year proved to be the best October of all years for the South Aegean, as it even surpassed the 2019 record, confirming the forecasts.
