Referring to tourism, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that "Greece's brand name is still very strong," while speaking at the 27th general assembly of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) on Thursday evening, and added that tourism was not as afflicted by the recession as other sectors of the Greek economy.

Tourism accounts for 11.7 percent of Greece’s GDP with 21.6bn euros in revenues in 2018 according to a study conducted by the Institute of the Greek Tourism Federation (INSETE).

Tourism is the most significant sector for rebuilding the country and will continue to point the way forward, Tourism Minister Thanassis Theoharopoulos said on Monday in an interview with public broadcaster ERT.
