Tourism is the most significant sector for rebuilding the country and will continue to point the way forward, Tourism Minister Thanassis Theoharopoulos said on Monday in an interview with public broadcaster ERT.
For this year's tourism season, Theocharopoulos pointed out that this year's goal - a competitive one - is to be even higher in terms of the 33 million international arrivals. "We are working systematically to increase our shares, increase revenues and, of course, quality. And to meet expectations," he said.
Special mention was made on government's recent measures and their impact on tourism.
Specifically, he referred to thematic tourism, particularly in the field of agrotourism, pointing to the interconnection of primary production and the enormous potential of Greece in these issues.
According to Theoharopoulos, co-funded projects of more than 25 million euros will be announced, specifically for thermal springs, in the immediate future.
