The Operating License for the Greek section of the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector Pipeline (IGB) was signed, allowing it to start commercial operation from October 1, 2022. This is the last administrative step necessary for the pipeline to be legally put into operation in Greek territory.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov on Friday jointly opened a valve that allowed natural gas to fill the pipeline Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), after the conclusion of an inauguration ceremony in the northern Greek city of Komotini.

Bulgaria purchased gas for the period from April 27 to 30 and for the month of May, replacing the flows that were lost after the cessation of supplies from Russia, two sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
