The Forest Directorate of Chania on Friday announced that Samaria Gorge will be open for visitors from 7:00 in the morning on Saturday, June 12 throughout the main route (Xyloskalo-Aghia Roumeli).

Seaplanes for more than 30 destinations

Seaplanes are throttling to take off in 2022 starting from the Ionian. Three new waterways have been put on the map in the last week. Crete officially acquires its first waterway, with the granting of an establishment permit to the  Rethymnon Municipal Port Fund. The issuance of the permit for the Volos waterway had preceded, while the controls for the establishment of a waterway in Ios, the first in the Cyclades, were successfully completed. This lays the foundations for the creation of an extensive network of about 150 waterways in the country over a 5-year horizon, which will be the largest network in Europe, contributing to the Greek economy with more than 1 billion euros.

Crete expects 2 million tourists in 2021

"Crete has always been one of the flagships of Greek tourism and in the unprecedented crisis of the coronavirus, it managed to keep its reputation at a high level and to offer high quality services to the tourists who visited it last summer," Greek Νational Tourism Organisation (GNTO) secretary general Dimitris Fragakis said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) released on Sunday.
