In the first five months of 2014, the central government of Greece held a 711 million euro primary budget excess, in comparison to a 970 million euro deficit in last year's same timeframe, as confirmed by Deputy Finance Minster Christos Staikouras today.

Today, Greece stated that it will make a 2014 budget target mandated by global lenders, and even beat the set monetary goal.
