A strong earthquake registering on the 4,4 Richter scale was reported Thursday night on the island of Zakynthos according to the Geodynamic Institute.

A 4.2-degree seismic vibration of the Richter scale was recorded by seismographs in the Ionian Sea in the early hours of the morning, as was announced by the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens on behalf of the four entities of the National Seismological Network.

A powerful 5.1 magnitude earthquake has shaken the city of Trikala in central Greece. The tremor occurred shortly after 10 am Friday.
