Greek police respond to record covid cases with new measures
With the situation tending to get out of control, with covid cases rising to over 800 in one day, the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) is in condition "red" in order to monitor the observance of the measures.
Extra police to protect Evros border
The borders are being reinforced. With 400 police officers in the first phase being sent to Evros, and a total of 1,060 more personnel in a second phase in Evros and the islands, Greek borders are being strengthened in the wake of Turkish threats to relocate migrants from the Turkish side of Evros, as well as information and images of migrants accumulating on Turkish shores.
Eleven month old Syrian infant taken dead to hospital, fears of sexual abuse
A 11-month-old baby, a Syrian refugee child, according to the Aglaia Kyriakou Children's Hospital, was transported Sunday morning to the hospital without a pulse and not breathing. Despite the resuscitation efforts made by the doctors, the little girl could not be kept alive. As it became known later, the medical examiner who examined the little girl's lifeless body found signs of sexual abuse.
