Chrisochoidis: 'We guard our borders with absolute calm, strategy and a plan'
In statements after his meeting with Evros regional government officials on Wednesday, Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis clarified that his presence in the northeastern Greek city of Alexandropoulis "is not news" but simply implemented the government's plans.

The borders are being reinforced. With 400 police officers in the first phase being sent to Evros, and a total of 1,060 more personnel in a second phase in Evros and the islands, Greek borders are being strengthened in the wake of Turkish threats to relocate migrants from the Turkish side of Evros, as well as information and images of migrants accumulating on Turkish shores.
