The prolonged outbreak of sheep pox last year is now leaving a visible mark on Greece’s dairy sector, particularly its feta industry. The most significant consequence has been a drop in the volume of sheep’s milk collected by cheesemakers toward the end of 2025—and beyond—resulting in reduced feta production for the current season.

The message that “the government, even in these difficult times, guarantees that the national economy is ready to respond to the challenges by implementing the commitments to the citizens with truth and stability as allies and on the path to fiscal stability” was sent by Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his presentation at the meeting of the Government Council for Economic Policy (KYSOP).
