Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke on Tuesday evening with the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Chrstine Lagarde, ahead of her visit to Germany to meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel, government sources said. 

According to information from Welt, there was a phone call between Merkel and Lagarde a few days ago, where they agreed that the Greek debt should be dealt with after the German elections.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recognizes the sacrifices of the Greek people, its Managing Director Christine Lagarde said on Wednesday, speaking at an event at the Atlantic Council in Washington.
