Merkel – Lagarde agreed to deal with the Greek debt after 2018
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
According to information from Welt, there was a phone call between Merkel and Lagarde a few days ago, where they agreed that the Greek debt should be dealt with after the German elections.
According to the same sources, Lagarde agreed for the IMF to stay on the Greek program as it is, which in supports the impression that Washington wants to support Angela Merkel in the upcoming elections.
The IMF does not confirm these information yet and high ranking officials insist that there should be a hair cut of the Greek debt along with some hard reforms.
The newspaper concludes that Greek government has understood that there is no one to support them in Washington or even France, as there will be a change in the Presidency there soon, as well.
