The first Athens Craft Beer Festival, dedicated exclusively to craft beer by micro-breweries from both Greece and abroad, will open its gates on October 18 and run until October 20 in Athens. 

A burgeoning presence but limited profits are, in general terms, the main characteristics of the micro-brewing sector in Greece so far, although forecasts continue to be very bright - as Greek consumers are following a global trend in beer consumption.

EZA, a Greek brewer based in Atalanti, Central Greece, has climbed to the third place in the domestic beer market and the top Greek-owned brewery, leading its shareholders to a decision to surpass the tight limits of legal and tax framework of a micro-brewery and to seek to play a bigger role in the domestic beer market.
