Switzerland will contribute 1.1 million Swiss francs to help the migration issue in Greece and will assume the resettlement of 22 unaccompanied refugee minors from Greece, as finalised on Thursday by Alternate Minister of Migration and Asylum George Koumoutsakos and his Swiss counterpart Mario Gattiker, who spoke on the telephone. 

The mayors of five Aegean islands most affected by the migration crisis issued a joint statement on Thursday, where they rejected the government’s announcements on the issue.

Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Giorgos Koumoutsakos is visiting Ankara on Thursday.
