Finance Minister Christos Staikouras on Thursday evening announced a 700-euro social dividend that will be distributed to some 250,000 households - corresponding to about 953,000 family members - while addressing a parliamentary session discussing the government’s taxation bill. 

The euro zone’s rescue fund, the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), agreed on Monday to allow Greece to pay back early part of the loans to the International Monetary Fund worth around 2.7 billion euros ($3.0 billion), it said in a statement.

Finance Minister Christos Staikouras is heading to Washington to attend the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
