On January 18, the first of the five first-generation trains with the name "White Arrow" brought by TRAINOSE to Greece arrives in Thessaloniki, from Italy. By the end of 2019 a trip by train from Athens to Thessaloniki will take 3.5 hours , according to the CEO of the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE), Konstantinos Petrakis.

Greek authorities say two people believed to be migrants who crossed the border from Turkey illegally have been killed after being hit by a passenger train in northeastern Greece.
