Europe has sounded the alarm for the coronavirus Delta mutation, which appears to have become a summer threat, raising additional concerns among tourism and travel professionals. The strain was seen in Greece.

The US State Department on Tuesday lowered its Covid-19 risk profile for travel to Greece and Cyprus, to “level 3”, following a recommendation by the federal Center for Disease Control (CDC), a decision that affects roughly 50 countries.

The recent easing of restrictive measures against the novel coronavirus in Greece so far shows no high dispersal in the community, said professor Sotiris Tsiodras on Tuesday evening, speaking at the thrice-weekly live update.
