Unemployment fell to 15.8% in the second quarter of 2021, down 1.7% from the previous quarter and 4.7% from the corresponding quarter of 2020, according to data compiled by the ELSTAT. The unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2021 was 17.1% and in the second quarter of 2020 16.7%.

The IMF estimates that the effects of the coronavirus crisis on the Greek economy will be devastating due to the hard impact on tourism.
