The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in September 2019 was 16.8 pct compared to the 18.8 pct in September 2018 and to the upward revised 16.9 pct in August 2019, according to Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). The number of employed in September 2019 amounted to 3,913,254 persons. 

Greeks considered climate change as the second most important issue the country would be facing within the next 20 years, according to a survey conducted by the market research company Qed for the Hellenic Society for the Environment and Culture.

Signs of improvement in the Greek economy are increasingly multiplying. According to the latest data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority, the unemployment rate in the country in the second quarter of this year was 16.9%, significantly lower than in the first and second quarter last year, (19.2% and 19% respectively).
