A 45-year-old man was led back to jail on Tuesday to await trial after testifying before an investigating prosecutor on charges of arson in the region of Avlonas.

Firefighters were scrambling for one more night to put out the flare-ups in Evros.

A government echelon is visiting Evros today, in order to carry out a first assessment of the disaster.
