Immigrants Rescued Off Samos
Thirty-five illegal migrants were located and brought to safety by the Samos Coast Guard, near Karlovassi.
The undocumented immigrants were on a small boat in the northern Aegean Sea and called for help with a cellphone. This follows last week's rescue of 31 migrants near the Prassos Cape on Samos, who were later brought to Samos' Vathi port.
The island's close proximity to Turkey serves as a gateway for illegal migrants from the East trying to enter Greece and other Western nations.
