K2 SmartJets Plans 2015 Seaplane Endeavor
K2 SmartJets (KSJ, Athens International) is scheduled to operate in the Hellenic seaplane market next year, through its Airwaves (Athens International) brand.
KSJ told ch-aviation that Airwaves will function under its AOC and will be comprised of a DHC-6 Twin Otter seaplanes fleet. It plans to create a vast national hub. Due to its 50% investment in Water Aiports S.A. last year, KSJ holds a large reign, regarding countrywide seaplane enterprises across Greece.
The company described, "Water Airports developed the first twelve (12) seadromes in Greece exclusively in 2005 and is currently the most experienced company in seadrome development. Water Airports has successfully dominated the seadrome market share in Greece both in 2013 and 2014 to-date, and has taken the only lead in seadrome management contracts starting with the Ionian islands", to ch-aviatio. K2 SmartJets' current base is Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport.
