ECHR Fines Greece Over Nafplio Prison Conditions
Greece has been summoned by the European Court of Human Rights to pay fines between 5,000 to 15,000 euros in damages, to fourteen Nafplio Prison convicts.
The prisoners' claim that they were treated poorly at the correctional facility, was ruled in favor by the ECHR, in a collaborative appeal by Greek, American, Hungarian, Romanian, and Turkish criminals.
The Court's stance was made public today. The Greek inmates accused Nafplio Prison of providing an inhumane and overcrowded setting.
