Pony orders at 25,000

The beginning of 2015 will see the official presentation of the new fifth generation Pony car by Namco Hellas, while sales are expected to begin this coming summer.
As mentioned in Eleftherotypia newspaper the new model will not be far from the original in appearance from the model already showcased and has already piqued the curiosity of the buying public as it combines contemporary technology with very low buying price, and what is more4 it's made in Greece.
The gradual introduction of the production process and its incremental build up will allow for hirings, something which boosts hopes among the unemployed in Thessaloniki prefecture, where the plant is located.
At this point the manufacturers are looking to enhance its Greek base of subcontractors, and will proceed with the zero series production of around 100 models of all types for exhibition purposes in dealerships, in order to promote marketing.
In the past the company had a total of 52 dealers, one for each of the country's prefecture, however, as interest is far greater now the company's marketing department believes dealers will be many more this time around.
Interest may be large in Greece, but is far greater in developing countries, and already orders are soaring into the thousands. Already there is a backlog of 25,000 orders and dealers are pressing for deliveries ASAP.
The firm is considering establishing “mini plants” in different countries enabling local assembly lines and giving an impetus for development and employment in developing countries.
Namco is planning to immediately have 410 new positions, and believes that 2,700 positions will be spun off in ancillary capacities (dealers, sub-contractors, salespeople, etc), and is hoping the Greek state will see the venture favorably so that the usual bureaucratic hurdles plaguing the Greek investment legal conundrum will not fetter the effort.
The new model will sport three different engines made by three different manufacturers: gasoline, diesel, and gasoline-natural gas. The names of the engine manufacturers are being kept under wraps, as there are confidentiality clauses in contracts. Namco is in consultations with gas provider DEPA as the latter is planning a series of natural gas refueling stations across Greece.
