Three dead from mortar misfire

A day of mourning for Greek armed forces as in the afternoon, on Tuesday, three men were killed during a mortar firing exercise at a range in Volos.
According to information available so far two of the men were professional soldiers and the third was a draftee.
The cuases of the tragedy have yet to be clarified. Defense minister Dimitris Avramopoulos ordered deputy defense minister Yannis Lambropoulos and Army chief of staff general Christos Manolas to rush to the area in a helicopter.
