Samaras meets with travel giant representatives

PM Antonis Samaras met with representatives of TUI travel giant and tourism minister Olga Kefaloyanni, at his office on Tuesday.

TUI CEO Peter Long noted that the meeting was excellent and stressed that “what the government has attained through political stability is very significant as there is a strong and positive economic course, something especially good for tourism.”

He also mentioned that 2014 was a very strong year tourism wise, with a 10% increase of TUI customers to Greece. “We have a very good and strong relationship with your minister and we see possibilities to evolve it further. We hope to again increase our tourist flow by 10% in the following year,” said Mr Long.

Ms Kefaloyanni stated that the great success of Greek tourism has been based on collaboration with large tourism agencies.

We are interested in maintaining the upward trend in 2015, as we did in 2013, and 2014. We want to extend the tourist season and give other areas of the country the chance to 'join the tourism game' and allow local communities to get additional benefits from tourism,” Ms Kefaloyanni stressed, adding: “that is why we are discussing enriching our collaboration with other opportunities and products that will give additional capabilities for employment of Greeks.”
