Wind parks approved

The Public Power Corporation DEH won approval from the energy regulator to produce electricity at two wind parks it plans to build in northern Greece.
The production license opens the way for the construction of the 106-megawatt-capacity parks in Rodopi, in the north-east of the country, a project which is estimated to cost 127.2 million euros.
PPC generates around two-thirds of Greece's electricity mainly via polluting, coal-fired plants and aims to increase the share of renewable energy in the power production mix.
Greece now has a total installed wind energy capacity of about 2,000 megawatt and aims at 7,500 megawatt by 2020, under EU rules.
