Thessaloniki Mayor Attacks Culture Minister over Metro Project
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Thessaloniki mayor Yannis Boutaris called the minister of culture and the general secretary for public works liars and blamed them for blocking metro works in the city.
The denunciations took place during a meeting of the Thessaloniki municipal council that was looking into the metro project and the archaeological finds during the building of the "Venizelos" station.
Besides calling minister Panos Panayotopoulos a liar, Mr. Boutaris wondered why the minister had not sent the matter to the Central Archaeological Board accusing him of systematically refusing to do so.
As for general secretary Simopoulos, the Thessaloniki mayor stated that he "insulted" the municipality and the citizens when he blames the mayor for delays in the building of the metro.
