State strips benefits from family of Marine killed in line of duty
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The family of a 19 year old Greek Marine killed in the performance of his duty, while firing a mortar has been stripped of part of the damages awarded by the tax bureau!
The Motherland by decision of the Minister of National Defense Dimitris Avramopoulos decided to honor the killed Marine with highest honors given to the military in peacetime. A medal was placed on his coffin, within the Church, during the funerary liturgy, by the leadership of the General Staff!
The Army, record time, gave a sum of 13,000 euros, compared to the total compensation of 113,000 euros, which the family will get from the state, for their first needs.
And then came the ... the "Other Motherland" that took the following decisions:
The Tax Inspector taxed the 13,000 euros and withheld 3,000 euros !!!
The power corporation DEH notified the family that now that the 19-year old was dead, the family no longer has three children, so are not considered a multi member family, so they deleted their social (cheaper) invoice!
These unprecedented moves were denounced yesterday in a letter to the "Patras Time" from the sister of the fallen Marine Fotis Andrikopoulos!
