Dimas: I will not be elected with GD votes
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A number of scenarios that have been circulating regarding the possibility of Golden Dawn MPs switching their votes and supporting the coalition candidate in the third and final ballot of the presidential election have led Stavros Dimas to issue a statement.
“Respecting democratic institutions, i will not accept to be elected President of the Hellenic Republic with votes coming for members of Golden Dawn."
Earlier a number of New Democracy deputies including Kiriakos Mitsotakis, Administrative Reform Minister and Christos Markogiannakis had said support by Golden Dawn was not welcome.
A statement has also been issued by Golden Dawn:
"The members of Golden Dawn who are illegally persecuted by the vicious regime will use their vote to put an end to the bailout shack of Samaras and Venizelos. Scenarios published by media mouthpieces are beyond absurd. On 25 January, Golden Dawn will become the third political force in the country and will receive the third exploratory mandate to form a government, thus beating corrupt power. "
