Infant body hound on Chios beach
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The remains of an infant has been discovered on a beach in Chios in a protected bay used by fishing vessels.
The body, which is in an advanced state of decomposition, was found near a slipway used to launch fishing boats in the natural harbor of Milarakia.
It has been speculated that the baby was among the victims of a recent shipwreck of a vessel carrying migrants off the shores of the nearby island of Mytilini.
The body was taken to a local morgue where an autopsy will be performed.
The horrific discovery once again highlights the increasingly high death toll of migrants and refugees in Mediterranean.
