Greek merchant fleet down in numbers, up in capacity

Greek merchant shipping fleet continued falling in numbers but rise in volume as Greek shipowners renewed their fleets with new, larger vessels.
Hellenic Statistical Authority, in a report released on Friday said that the Greek merchant shipping fleet fell by 2.3 pct in November to 1,859 vessels, after falling by 2.6 pct in the same month in 2013. The capacity of the Greek merchant shipping fleet rose 1.6 pct in November after rising by 0.3 pct in November 2013.
