Turkish chopper overflies Kos

A significant Turkish provocation took place some time ago by a single Turkish helicopter, probably belonging to the Turkish Coast Guard, which conducted a flight, over Kos below a height of 1000 feet (about 300 meters).
According to the official announcement of the Greek General Staff, the Turkish AB-412 helicopter, which entered the Athens FIR at 11:08, and flew above the eastern edge of Kos at 11:09 at a height of less than 1,000 feet. The helicopter departed from the Athens FIR at 11:13. "This helicopter was recognized in accordance with international rules and established practice" concluded the statement of the Defence Ministry.
Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos and Chief of Staff Gen. Michael Kostarakis, on an official visit to Cyprus, were immediately informed by telephone of the issue.
