Young Israeli Start-Up Guru Oren Simanian to visit Greece

The young Israeli start-up enterprise guru, Oren Simanian, will visit Greece on 24- 26 February to hold workshops in technology innovation hubs, incubators, accelerators and the University of Athens. 

He will also meet with representatives of a Greek development fund and Greek entrepreneurs.  His visit is being organized by the Embassy of Israel.  

Specifically, Oren Simanian, will hold a series of workshops at the Innovation Hubs (π1-a2 Innohubs) of the Corallia Hellenic Technology Cluster in Athens and Patras, its Egg Enter-Grow-Go Incubator in Athens and at the Athens University of Economics and Business.  His workshops will examine a wide variety of key issues regarding start-ups and innovation, including entrepreneurial models and ecosystems, funding tools and critical success factors, while presenting Israeli practices and case studies.  Simanian will also address an open event on the "Israeli Start-Up Ecosystem" at the Orange Grove Incubator of the Embassy of the Netherlands and meet with representatives of the Greek New Enterprise Development Fund (TANEO). Finally, the Ambassador of Israel, Ms. Irit Ben-Abba and the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association (EENE) will host an event for Simanian with Greek business leaders, start-uppers, VC representatives, etc.

Oren Simanian is a key personality in the Israeli start-up ecosystem, a mentor, innovator and entrepreneur.  He was born in 1982 and studied economics at Tel Aviv University. He is the founder and CEO of StarTAU, Tel Aviv University's famous entrepreneurship center and founder at the StartBase.co and StartIsrael.co.il, web platforms for the Israeli start-up eco-system.  He is also the Marketing &Community Manager at Indiegogo crowdfunding engine in Israel.   At StarTAU Oren has screened more than 800 start-ups, and hosted more than 350 guests including leaders of state and high ranking international officials.  He has given lectures on entrepreneurship throughout the world including Spain, Cyprus (TEDx), Latvia, Peru and Colombia.  Finally, Oren is a professional football referee in Israel's premier league.

Referring to the visit, the Israeli Ambassador, Ms. Irit Ben-Abba stated that: "Start-ups and innovation are exciting new areas of cooperation between our two countries.  Israel has a highly developed eco-system whereas the field is growing rapidly in Greece.  Oren is coming to share his know-how but also to learn about the local start-up scene as part of our ongoing effort to establish synergies between Israel and Greece in important fields like entrepreneurship and innovation."
