Extension of military service for two years?

The extension of military service under a professional salaried relationship, something like the MOMA units of old (engineer battalions used for civic projects) was announced Tuesday morning by Minister of Defense Panos Kammenos talking to Mega TV.
According to Mr. Kammenos, the planned extension of military service will be undertaken through a paid professional relationship. So those who have the skills and desire can stay for at least two years and be paid a salary.
"We are not talking only about civil engineers but also young people who are machine operators and want to work," said Panos Kammenos. However one prerequisite is the creation of construction units that will undertake projects throughout the region, while referring to the machinery required, Mr Kammenos said he expected offers from the US and Russia.
