Extraordinary cabinet meeting on refugee influx and squaters

Immigrants and anarchist squaters are the two hot issues -besides the crucial issues of these days due to the negotiations with lenders- facing the government.

 

With the situation in the two areas at risk of spinning out of control, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras called ministers to an extraordinary meeting at 2 pm at the presidential office, at the Maximos Mansion.

The meeting will be attended by Deputy Citizen Protection Minister Yiannis Panousis, the competent Minister for Immigration Tasia Christodoulopoulou, Shipping Minister Theodoros Dritsas, Coast Guard Admiral Athanasios Athanasopoulos and deputy commander Nicholaos Patrinos. Commissioner of Immigration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos has also been called to the meeting, who will represent Aristides Kalogeropoulos, special advisor to the commissioner.

Although the meeting concerning the immigration issue that seems to take a heavy toll in recent days, the meeting also discussed the issue of squatting, after the cry of anguish by university authorities of a risk to human life due to drug use in the occupation of the Athens university rectorship, which continues for 16 days.
