Varoufakis: We will not become 'yes-men'
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
“If we sign the memorandum they want, the crisis will deepen,” said Fin Min Yanis Varoufakis speaking in public, at Agios Titos Sq. in Heraklion.
“We are negotiating for our right to… negotiate. We cannot agree, because there is a disagreement between them. The only stable power of reponsibility is the Government of Alexis Tsipras”, said Mr. Varoufakis.
He also mentioned that Eurogroup is separated into three groups. Those who believe in austerity, those who have taken austerity measures but do not believe in austerity and those who believe that austerity will come to their countries if Greece manages to achieve a better negotiation.
“Our creditors will receive a reasonable proposal from us, but Greece will not be humiliated”, said Mr. Varoufakis.
Yanis Varoufakis was escorted by James Galbraith, co-writer of the book “A Modest Proposal for Resolving the Eurozone Crisis”.
Mr. Varoufakis went straight to Agios Titos Sq. and had no meetings with local Authorities.
