Negotiations with institutions wrapping up

There is optimism among the Greek government and institutions that an agreement can be reached tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

Ministers Tsakalotos and Stathakis will meet again with representatives of the "quartet" to finalize the last prerequisites. Technical groups will meet on the issues of the "red" loans and working conditions. The agreement can be voted in, on Thursday. On Friday a teleconference of the Eurogroup is expected, so by 18 August the agreement can be pased by European parliaments.

On the issue of "red" loans, where lenders retreated from their demand that under certain conditions the right to protect the primary residence for those who have benefited from the law Katseli be waived, the Greek side agreed, however, to put a cap on the value of the protected residence, probably around 300,000 euros.

The government insists on denying the possibility of sale of problem loans to funds and proposes setting a "haircut" or deletion of loans by a special Management Agency under the conditions of integration the operator that will be set in due course.

Lenders seek rapid completion of outstanding privatization and upgrading of the role of HRADF, while the government is committed to building a new Fund in a more relaxed timetable for greater efficiency in utilizing the property of the State. The Government disagrees with the liberalization of the gas market and separation of networks from providers.
