Popular Unity spokesman augurs clash with Eurozone

The national currency is not an end in itself, but "if we must clash with the eurozone, we will do it," Popular Unity (LAE) parliamentary group spokesman Dimitris Stratoulis said in statements to private MEGA TV on Monday.
Asked to comment on the mandate LAE is about to receive to form a government, he said that they will keep it for three days in order "to discuss with political forces and exchange views on what government should be formed for the country." However, he noted that "We cannot form an anti-memorandum government with the forces of the current parliament."
Stratoulis reiterated that the aim is to govern and implement a programme that includes the cancellation of the memoranda, the write-off of the largest part of the debt, the nationalization of banks, just taxation and the restoration of the social security rights. He added that from the moment that the government ratified the memorandum, its pre-elections programme was cancelled.
