Rufus Wainwright, distinguished singer and songwriter, will present the Symphonic Visual Concert Prima Donna on Tuesday at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus within the framework of the Hellenic Festival.
Prima Donna, the central character of which is inspired by Maria Callas, was first presented in 2009 at the Manchester International Festival but its visual concert adaptation will premiere in Athens.
The first half of the performance is comprised of a 60-minute concert version of Prima Donna, coinciding with a showing of the film.
The second half of the performance features Wainwright singing highlights from his acclaimed oeuvre as a songwriter with full orchestra accompaniment. Opera singers will also make an appearance for a couple of songs.
