Troika - Government Deadlock Continues

The troika is taking a hard line in talks with the Greek government over the fiscal gap, estimated at around 1 billion euros, as Athens is remonstrating about the risk of political instability.
A government official spoke to UK daily Guardian in dramatic tones saying, "They are pressing us to adopt policies that are crazy... If we are forced to implement so much as half a measure more there will be a revolution in this country. Are they blind?"
At the same time a top finance ministry official stated that it was uncertain whether an agreement could be reached before the Eurogroup meeting on 9 December.
Meetings with troika reps will continue through tomorrow, as the 2014 budget will be tabled in parliament on Thursday.
On Friday. Finance minister Yannis Stournaras will fly to Brussels to attend the eurogroup meeting on country-member budgets.
On the same day prime minister Samaras will meet with chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
