Greece gripped by 24 hour strike

The protest rally of civil dervant federation ADEDY started from Klafthmonos Square while that of communist affiliated union PAME took off from Omonia Square against the social insurance and pension cuts planned by the government.
Among the placards, banners and flags, was the ... "guillotine of Insurance," which stole the show, while doctors, teachers, civil servants and lawyers took to the streets.
Except for workers in the public sector, the strike involves teachers and professors (ILO-OLME), the Panhellenic Medical Association, employees of the ambulance service, engineers, administrative staff of Athens, air traffic controllers and lawyers, while the strike also involved journalst union ESHEA starting from 6:00 a.m. Thursday until 6:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016
