Second group of migrants sent back to Turkey

A second group of migrants is being sent back from the Greek islands to Turkey after a five-day pause, under the agreement signed between EU and Turkey.
Today 150 immigrants will be sent back, while the initial list with the persons to be deported is getting smaller, since asylum applications recorded a significant increase.
Authorities now are looking for those who do not wish to apply for asylum or have withdrawn their asylum application.
However, great concerns have been raised after Turkey’s president Tayyip Erdogan statement who said that “Turkey will not go through with an agreement to take back refugees if the European Union does not fulfill its pledges,”.
Authorities in Greece say thousands migrants and refugees camped at Piraeus Port have been given two weeks to move to army-built camps voluntarily or be expelled by force.
The warning issued Thursday came as nearly a third of the 52,000 migrants stranded in Greece by European border closures are refusing to move to organized shelters and remain camped out at the port of Piraeus and at the northern border with Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
At Piraeus on Thursday, Interior Ministry officials and translators spent hours trying to persuade migrants to move to a new camp in northern Greece, showing them aerial photographs of the site and explaining what facilities are available.
