Gunmen Fire at Police in Faliro
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Another incident of fire against police took place, a day after the death of a police border guard in a shootout with poachers in northern Greece.
Police officers of the motorcycle squad DIAS were fired upon by persons unknown a little after 11.30 am, Monday, in the southern Athens suburb of Faliro.
The police officers were responding to a call concerning a break in. When they attempted to stop a 'suspicious' blue car at Dimotikou Theatrou (Municipal Theater) Square, the persons in the car opened fire against the officers, who returned fire.
At least two persons were aboard the car, and it is possible that at least one of then was wounded in the shoot out.
The car had Thessaloniki license plates and it does not seem that it has ever been involved in another incident.
Police began scouring the area for the suspects in an ongoing manhunt.
