Olympic champion Anna Korakaki swept up the medals once again at the ISSF World Cup Final in Bologna, winning a gold medal in the 25m pistol event on Friday and silver in the 10m air pistol on Saturday, after breaking the world record in the same event to get to the finals.
President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Saturday congratulated Korakaki on her latest successes at the ISSF World Cup Final:
"Your new world-class success and the world record that seals it show the path that belongs to you: always to the top. My warm ongratulations." the president's message said.
Deputy Sports Minister Stavros Kontonis also congratulated the athlete on a glorious year in a message on Saturday, noting that she "continues to keep the Greek flag at the top of the world and makes us all proud."
"After her double and unmatched success at the Olympic Games in Rio, she won two medals at the World Cup in Bologna as well. She deserves the warm congratulations and respect of all Greeks, given that apart from her competition successes, she succeeds in showing remarkable steadiness and staying at the top internationally, an element that marks the great personalities of world sport," the minister said.
"Once again, 'well done' to golden Anna and her coach and father Tasos Korakakis," he added.
