The worldwide audience watched the historic speech to the Republic of Barack Obama in Stavros Niarchos Foundation, but before that he held another warmer meeting.
The speech which the outgoing US president ended with the words "Long live Greece!" won the warm applause of the audience and inspired not only the Greek people, but also all those who, throughout the world, saw it live or viewed it later.
What was not widely known is that a few hours before Obama reached the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, he hosted a small ceremony at the Asteras Palace Vouliagmeni in honor of staff of the US embassy in Athens.
"He was very human! It was very touching to know that he will no longer be our president," one person who attended told NewGreekTV said in Athens 98.4 FM, man was the ceremony organized by the US President at the Asteras hotel in Vouliagmeni.
In a video released online shows Obama greeting the embassy staff and their families.
